Any Animals

A. is driven by the overwhelming impulse to fuse himself with the book and to become as one with it. He cuts his fingertips. A. is no self-destructive man but rather he is making his touch hypersensitive, to multiply the pleasure of contact. A real sexual intercourse of his fingers and the book pages: the paper cuts through the flesh and the bodily fluids penetrate the paper. In the end the result will be a mutated A. hybridized: half man and half animal or maybe completely animal.

Light residence in Tirana

Five days to discuss musical language and audio-visual productions

A unique opportunity to meet, discuss and view different existing realities and different systems of the art world. The five days Light Residence in Tirana, with the “Art Show” Vito Lo Re, started on November 24th and will end on November 28th. It is being hosted by the University of Arts of the Albanian capital.

The Light Residence programme, coordinated by the Pino Pascali Foundation, consists of artistic residencies in the countries involved in arTVision project, that feature young artists in training, students of the Academy of Fine Arts called to participate in the construction of five "art show" taught by internationally renowned artists, to increase creativity trough collaboration.

The first day in Tirana was dedicated to Musical Language of Audio-visual Products: in the halls of the university participants discussed soundtracks, documentaries, publicity, jingles and software sections. The second day was dedicated to the professional figures involved in audio-visual productions (directors, orchestra conductors, musicians, singers, producers, editors, audio experts), to their roles and working technical requirements. As an extra topic, the invitation for composing a short musical comment to a film scene or TV advertisement. Today’s activity involved televisions, radios, production companies and copyright agencies. As an extra topic, the orchestra rehearsed for film music made by Vito Lo Re.

The last two days will be dedicated to the Art Show “Black Box” and to the presentation of a musical portfolio by Vito Lo Re. Closing concert with film music composed by Lo Re. The next Light Residence will take place from 20th to 24th January in Croatia.

#03 Rijeka / Coexistence

#03 Rijeka: third stage of ART IN PORT - Coexistence: for a new Adriatic Koinè”

After the success of the first and second stages in Tirana at the Piramida and in Montenegro at the National Gallery in Cetinje, the city of Rijeka is going to welcome the third of the five stages of the contemporary art exhibition "ART IN PORT - Coexistence: for a new Adriatic Koine". It will open in Croatia, at the MMSU - Museum of Contemporary Art in Rijeka on November 20th at 8 pm and will involve artists from the five partner countries of the exhibition: Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy (Veneto and Apulia). The next stage will be displayed in Venice and in Polignano a Mare in Italy, until March 2015.

Working together to give voice to art, to multiply its visions, to create a narration with many voices, connected together into a large Adriatic and transmedia network.

The exhibition is part of the project "arTVision. A live art channel" funded by the European IPA Adriatic CBC Programme 2007/2013, with the purpose to activate and connect the creative energy of young artists invited to participate as protagonists. It is an experimental project, led by Puglia Region - Area Policies for the Promotion of Territory, Knowledge and Talent, which involves: Pino Pascali Foundation Museum of Contemporary Art; Veneto Region - Direction of cultural and performance activities; Academy of Fine Arts of Venice; Ministry of Culture of Montenegro; Faculty of Dramatic Arts of Cetinje – Montenegro; Ministry of Culture of Albania; University of Arts of Tirana - Albania; Primorje-Gorski Kotar County –Croatia; Kanal RI - Croatia.

The core idea is to establish a strict dialogue among cross-border Nations through a set of cultural actions, aimed at finding out commonalities and discontinuities among peoples sharing the Mare Nostrum of the Adriatic Mediterranean.

One exhibition and five versions of it held in different locations and territories, to state the concept of a new linguistic Koinè, capable of translating territorial identities into the dynamics of relationship, open-mindedness and comparison. The artists from different geographical areas, coordinated by a team of curators, headed by the Pino Pascali Museum Foundation, in collaboration with the coordinators of the partner countries, have dealt with such shared topics as stories and narrations, myths and legends, spirituality and religions, migration and nomadism, with the aim to strengthen the idea of a common Europeanness which is too often forgotten.

The exhibition is curated by the critic and curator Marinilde Giannandrea, in close collaboration with Ksenija Orelj, curator of the Museum of Contemporary art in Rijeka.

Puglia residence: last day

Puglia inaugurates the arTVision "Light residence" program: next step Albania

Having opened on the 3rd of November at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari the “Light residence” is part of the project “Artvision - a live art channel”, financed under the IPA Adriatic CBC project and led by Puglia Region – Area Policies for the promotion of territory, knowledge and talent.

The “Light Residence” is being coordinated by the Pino Pascali Foundation Museum of Contemporary Art and held in the countries involved in the project, where young training artists, students of Fine Art Art Academies, are called to work together to increase creativity and to participate in five ‘art shows’ taught by internationally renowned artists. The first “residency” involved students from Puglia, Veneto, Albania, Montenegro and Croatia. It represented a great opportunity not only to meet some of the leading figures of contemporary culture, having as a theme the language of set design and digital animation in 3D, but also to meet each other in an exchange of voices and dialogue, in the spirit of arTVision.

The project has a strong connection to the new generations in a European dimension of transdisciplinary, cooperation, dialogue and transmobility. For this reason, the visiting professors on the first day (November 3) were Alida Cappellini and Giovanni Licheri. Both have wide-ranging set design experience: advertising, collaborations with the major Italian theatre companies (Stabile di Genova, Teatro della Tosse, Teatro stabile di Roma), opera, movies, vast experience in television, variety shows, series, special redecorations and exhibitions.

On the 5th of November work continued at the Art Academy in Foggia, on the 6th in Lecce, and it was concluded on Friday the 7th of November in Bari. The students took part in workshop activities within the Academies and also visited the historic centres of the cities.

The next “Light Residence” will take place from 24th to 28th November in Albania.
